Composition & description
Our common carrot comes from a distant ancestor (5000 years ago) from Iran and Afghanistan. Historically, the carrot has been available in many colours ranging from white to bright purple. The orange revolution of the carrot dates back to the 16th century and we owe it to a cross between red and white flesh varieties made by the Dutch. From that moment on, the Daucus Sativa will supplant the other varieties, including its cousin the parsnip. Its cosmetic interest lies essentially in its richness in vitamin E and carotenoids, although it also contains mineral salts, vitamin A, B, K... It is mainly used in the form of oily maceration in which the precious beta-carotene is solubilized.
It should be noted that if the carrot macerate is produced from the root of the carrot, the essential oil uses the seeds of the plant. The properties are therefore not quite the same. Note also that the macerate also combines the properties of the oil used.
Properties
anti-oxidant, anti-ageing, healthy glow, after-sun
effectBeta-carotene is a powerful anti-oxidant that neutralises free radicals and delays the effects of ageing by promoting cell regeneration. By activating the production of melamine, carrot macerate promotes and maintains tanning. It is known to revive and unify the complexion. This plant extract is therefore indicated for mature, dull or tired skin lacking vitality. The provitamin A it contains makes it an ally for acne-prone skin (provided that the oil used for maceration is not comedogenic).
It should be noted that although it prepares the skin for tanning, carrot macerate does not provide protection against the sun; it is, however, useful as an after-sun treatment
