Coconut oil is extracted from the coconut pulp (fruit of the Cócos nucífera coconut tree). During the deodorization process, the color and odor are reduced. Low volatile and fat-soluble substances, part of the unsaponifiable matter and free fatty acids are also determined.
Non-Kosher, non-Halal product. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Composition & description

It is a solid white oil at room temperature; it liquefies above 25°C. It is essentially composed of saturated fatty acids, the majority of which are lauric acid (sanitizer).

Properties

Nourishing, protective, purifying, emollientHighly
nourishing, coconut oil is recommended for treating dry and very dry areas of the body (hands, feet, elbows, etc.). It is suitable for all skin types, especially irritated or damaged skin, which it soothes and protects. It is generally found in balms and repairing care or for climatic protection. It is also a must in hair care (lauric acid has a good affinity with hair proteins); it is therefore widely recommended for dry, frizzy or curly hair. Its comedogenic index being rather high, it is preferable to avoid it for the daily care of the face of the fatty skins.
Finally, coconut oil is a must in cold process soap making as it gives a foaming and smooth effect to the soap.
