Composition & description

It can also be found under the name of Castor oil but this has no relation with the animal. Castor oil is extracted by pressing the seeds of a plant of the same name: Ricin. It contains more than 4/5 of monounsaturated fatty acids (ricinic acid and oleic acid - omega 9); about 4% of polyunsaturated fatty acids (linoleic acid - omega 6) and 2 to 3% of unsaturated fatty acids (palmitic and stearic acid). It is an oil rich in vitamin E.
Ricin seeds contain an extremely toxic poison called ricin. The oil is very easily purified from ricin by simple filtration and is therefore not toxic. However, it should not be ingested because it is a powerful purgative (it is also used in the composition of laxative medicines).

Properties

Nourishing, softening, antifungal, antibacterial, healingIt is
a so-called drying oil (i.e. it can dry in the air when applied in a thin layer). It is particularly indicated for hair care, which it nourishes in depth, revitalizes and brings shine and flexibility. It is also said to promote hair growth. It is the oil of reference to take care of the fragile and breakable nails. It is also widely used in mascaras for its nourishing properties and to reinforce the hold of it by its viscosity. In soap making, in addition to its properties, it brings foaming to the soap.
